AUBREY BEARDSLEY'S BRIGHTON

March 16th 1998 marked the 100th anniversary of Beardsley's death in Mentone, France at the age of 25 . His contemporary, the American jounalist Frank Harris wrote of Brighton's famous artist in black & white that,"..the most startling appearance of the early ninties was certainly Aubrey Beardsley. I know of no one in the whole history of art who made such an impression, took up such an independent and peculiar place so early in life. "
